Air Fryer Kohlrabi

Today I’m sharing a recipe for air fryer kohlrabi! This is a great way to cook this vegetable, and it’s so easy. You just need to cut the this vegetable into squares, toss with olive oil and black pepper, and then air fry until crispy. You can serve these with a dipping sauce, but they’re also good on their own! These can also be turned into air fryer kohlrabi fries. The prep time is just a few minutes, and the cooking time is about 15 minutes.

What is Kohlrabi?

Air Fryer Kohlrabi

Kohlrabi is a brassica vegetable, related to broccoli and cabbage. It’s got a mild flavor, and it’s crunchy and slightly sweet.

To make the air fryer kohlrabi you will need:

Ingredients:

Air Fryer Kohlrabi
  • Kohlrabi
  • Olive oil
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Optional ingredients: smoked paprika, cumin or other spices

Instructions:

Air Fryer Kohlrabi

1. Preheat the air fryer to 390 degrees Fahrenheit.

2. In a large bowl, toss the kohlrabi squares with the olive oil, salt, and pepper.

3. Transfer the kohlrabi to the air fryer basket and cook for 15 minutes. Shake the basket halfway through cooking.

4. Serve the air fryer kohlrabi with your favorite dip sauce. Enjoy!

Recipe Tips:

-If your kohlrabi is on the larger side, you may need to cook it for a few minutes longer in the air fryer.

-You can also cut the vegetable into air fryer kohlrabi fries shape too instead of squares.

-Try adding other seasonings before air frying, such as garlic powder, smoked paprika, or onion powder.

The cook time will vary dependant on how big  you cut your kohlrabi wedges. I find that 15-17 minutes is the perfect cook time for smaller wedges, but if yours are on the larger side you may need to cook them for a few minutes longer. Be sure to shake the basket halfway through cooking so that the kohlrabi cooks evenly.

Substitutions:

  • The olive oil can be substituted with any other type of oil.
  • The salt can be omitted if you are on a low-sodium diet.
  • The kohlrabi can also be baked in the oven at 390 degrees Fahrenheit for 20-25 minutes instead of being air fried.
