Maple glazed hot wings

Today, I’m going to show you how to make maple hot wings. This is a great recipe for game day, a birthday party or any time you want to enjoy some delicious wings!

This Chicken Wings Recipe is such a simple recipe, and only requires a few ingredients: chicken wings, maple syrup, butter, chill sauce, baking powder and salt. These chicken wings are covered in a sticky, sweet, and slightly spicy glaze. Need I say more? In my view, coating chicken wings in some type of sauce is always a good idea. It adds flavor and prevents the wings from drying out. Let’s get cooking!

What you’ll need

Maple glazed hot wings

For this recipe, you will need:

– Chicken wings (mixture of drumettes and wingettes). I used chicken wings but you can use any type of chicken you like.

– Maple syrup: Maple syrup is great to use because it’s already sticky and sweet.

– Chili sauce: The temperture of the chili sauce will depend on how spicy you want your wings.

– Unsalted butter: This will help to thin out the glaze and make it easier to coat the wings.

– Baking powder: This is my secret ingredient! It helps to make the wings crsipy.

– Salt: This is for seasoning the wings.

– Optional ingredients?: ground black pepper

That’s it!

Instructions

Maple glazed hot wings

1. Preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

2. To a small saucepan over medium heat, add the maple syrup, chili sauce, and butter. Stir until the butter has melted and the sauce is well combined.

3. In a large bowl, toss the hot wings with the baking powder and salt.

4. Arrange the chicken wings and cook for 10-15 minutes

5. After 10-15 minutes, remove from the air fryer and coat with the glaze.

6. Air fry for an additional 3-5 minutes, or until the chicken wings are cooked through.

Recipe Tips

– To keep things simple, I used store-bought chili sauce in this recipe. But you can also use your favorite hot sauce, or even make your own chili sauce from scratch!

– If you want to add a bit more heat to these wings, try using a hotter chili sauce or adding some cayenne pepper to the glaze.

– These chicken wings are best served immediately after they come out of the oven. But if you have any leftovers, they will keep in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Substitutions

– If you’re not a fan of hot wings, you can use chicken drumettes or chicken thighs instead. Just adjust the cooking time accordingly.

– Don’t have any maple syrup on hand? You can use honey, brown sugar or agave nectar instead.

– Not a fan of butter? You can leave it out of the glaze entirely, or substitute with olive oil or another type of oil.

– Baking powder may seem like an odd ingredient in this recipe, but it helps to create a crispy skin on the chicken wings. If you don’t have any baking powder on hand, you can leave it out. However, your wings may not be as crispy.

What can these chicken wings be served with?

These maple glazed chicken wings are great on their own, but if you want to add a side dish or two, serve them with:

– Celery and carrot sticks

– Ranch or blue cheese dressing (for dipping)

– A simple green salad
