FAQ’s

bbq chicken in air fryer

What temperature do you cook the chicken in the air fryer?

The air fryer BBQ chicken is cooked at 380 degrees Fahrenheit .

Why should I use a meat thermometer?

A meat thermometer will help ensure that the chicken cooks evenly – so you don’t have any raw or undercooked bits! Plus, you can tell when it’s reached its optimum internal temperature – which is really important if you want your Air Fryer BBQ Chicken to be safe to eat too!

How long do you cook the chicken legs in air fryer?

It depends on how large your drumsticks are! If you have small drumsticks, they should only take 23 minutes or so to cook up fully. Larger drumsticks may require 25-30 minutes in the air fryer before being ready to enjoy.

How similar is air fryer bbq chicken to grill bbq chicken?

The texture of chicken cooked in an air fryer will not be quite as crispy on the outside as it would if you were to grill it. Air frying uses a very hot and fast cooking process to crisp up the outside, and this is simply not possible with most grills since they don’t get nearly as hot. But for those who do not have access to a grill – or who want an easy way to make BBQ chicken – the air fryer may be just what you need!

Why do you cook the chicken again after putting BBQ sauce on?

This is for better flavour! The sugars in the barbecue sauce will caramelize and create a thick and delicious crust.

What BBQ Sauce shall I use?

You can use any BBQ sauce you like – just make sure that it’s the kind that isn’t watery or thin. You’ll want to double check that your Air fryer BBQ chicken will get a good coating of sauce if your sauce is too runny before you start Air frying!

Why did my air fryer bbq chicken get dry?

If the Air Fryer BBQ Chicken gets dry during air frying, this usually means one of two things: there wasn’t enough barbecue sauce on the chicken pieces when they went into the Air fryer basket for cooking; or something was wrong/left out with the marinating process.

What can bbq chicken be served with?

Air fryer BBQ Chicken drumsticks make a great appetizer or snack, but they can also be served with some veggies and rice for a healthier meal. Try air frying some corn on the Cob, Air fryer sweet potato wedges, Air fryer broccoli, or Air fryer asparagus to serve with your Air fryer BBQ Chicken.

Can I use another cut of meat other than drumsticks?

Absolutely! Air frying is a great method for cooking up all sorts of meats, from chicken breast, to whole chicken, to pork chops. And you can use this same barbecue sauce recipe on any meat that you might enjoy with barbecue sauce.

Is there another way to make air fryer barbecue chicken

Yes – one very similar way is to bake the chicken in the oven on 350 degrees F for about 45 minutes.

How shall I store leftovers?

Leftover Air fryer BBQ chicken can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days. It’s best if you try to use it within 24 hours, however, as it may start to dry out by this time. Air Fryer BBQ Chicken will keep well in the fridge because of its high temperature during Air frying – but be careful not to store too much at once! Meal prep for tomorrows lunch sorted!

How do I reheat leftovers?

You can reheat leftover Air fried barbecue chicken easily by microwaving until hot again. Alternatively, you can place your Air fryer BBQ chicken into a preheated oven on 350 degrees F until warmed through. This should take 10 minutes or so.
