Air Fryer Christmas Ornaments (Salt Dough)

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! And what better way to get into the holiday mood than by making your own ornaments for the tree!

Making salt dough ornaments is a fun activity for kids and adults alike. And the best part is, they can be made in any shape or size you want!

Why make them in the air fryer?

Why not! The air fryer is the perfect tool for making these ornaments since it will give them a nice, even cook all around.

To make these ornaments, you will need:

All puporse flour: I use all purpose flour , but you could use whole wheat or gluten free flour

Salt: I like to use table salt, but any kind will do. The salt acts as a preservative so your ornaments will last longer.

Water: You may need to add more or less water depending on the flour you use. The dough should be firm but not too sticky.

Optional:

– Food coloring: This is for adding color to your ornaments. I like to use liquid food coloring, but you could also use gel food coloring or even regular paint.

– Glitter: This is for adding some sparkle to your ornaments! I like to use fine glitter, but you could also use chunky glitter.

-Sprinkles: This is for adding some fun decoration to your ornaments!

Instructions:

1. In a large bowl, mix together the flour and salt.

2. Add the water and stir until the dough comes together. If it’s too sticky, add more flour; if it’s too dry, add more water.

3. Knead the dough for a few minutes until it’s smooth.

4. If you’re adding color to your ornaments, divide the dough into as many parts as you want and knead in the food coloring until desired color is reached.

5. Roll out the dough to ¼ inch thickness and use cookie cutters to cut out shapes.

6. Place a hole (with a straw) in the top of each one before cooking.

7. Remove the tray layer from your air fryer base.

8. Place the shapes in the air fryer base and cook at 300 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-15 minutes, or until the ornaments are firm and lightly browned.

9. Remove from the air fryer and let cool completely before handling. Store in an airtight container.

10. Decorate as you please the thread a piece of string through the hole and tie a knot.

That’s it! These ornaments are super easy to make and can be customized however you like. So get creative and have fun!
