January 1st is when the most diets are started — and also when most of them quietly fall apart.
It’s rarely because people “lack willpower.” It’s usually because January diets are built around restriction instead of structure.
Skipping meals, cutting entire food groups, and relying on motivation alone doesn’t work well when:
• You’re tired from December
• Your routine is still disrupted
• The weather is cold and dark
The diets that actually last tend to do something simpler:
• Eat regular meals
• Keep familiar foods, just in better balance
• Focus on protein, fibre and warmth
• Make small changes instead of total resets
January doesn’t need a punishment plan. It needs something repeatable on a bad day.
