Sainsbury’s £50 Christmas Dinner in a Box Has Dropped to £12.50!! And Shoppers Are Being Told to Check In Store

One of the most eye-catching Christmas food discounts this week is coming from Sainsbury’s, where its Slow Cooked Proper Christmas Dinner in a Box has been reduced from £50 to just £12.50.

The product, part of Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference range, weighs 3.55kg and centres around a slow-cooked British turkey breast, served with traditional festive accompaniments. Originally marketed as a premium, low-stress Christmas centrepiece, the scale of the reduction has surprised shoppers.

According to Sainsbury’s website, the product is now sold out online, meaning it can no longer be ordered for home delivery or click and collect. However, reduced seasonal items like this are often still available in physical stores, depending on local stock levels.

Late-stage reductions of this size usually happen when supermarkets need to clear chilled Christmas lines with short shelf lives. Rather than carrying stock past the festive period, retailers slash prices — sometimes dramatically — to ensure items sell through.

At £12.50, the box undercuts the cost of many raw turkey joints, while also removing much of the prep work involved in cooking a full roast. For smaller households, late hosts, or anyone whose Christmas plans have changed at the last minute, it could offer exceptional value if found on shelves.

Availability is expected to vary significantly by store, with larger branches more likely to have remaining stock. Shoppers hoping to find the deal are advised to check in person and be flexible, as once store stock is gone, it is unlikely to be replenished.

While there’s no guarantee of finding it, the reduction highlights how checking supermarkets in the final days before Christmas can sometimes uncover unexpected bargains — especially on premium festive food lines.
