Today on the blog, we’re making a marzipan log! This is a festive and easy dessert that’s perfect for the holidays. What is marzipan you ask? It’s a sweet almond paste that can be flavored and shaped into all sorts of things. For this recipe, we’ll be using it to make a log shape, but you can really get creative with the marzipan and make whatever shape you like.

I have the fondest memeories of eating marzipan as a child. Either my mum or dad got gifted these at work a lot around Christmas time, and then we would have them as after dinner treat.

Now that I’m an adult (and a bit more health conscious), I don’t eat marzipan as often. But I still love it and think it makes for a great holiday treat. If you’re looking for something special to make this season, give this marzipan log recipe a try. Your family and friends will be impressed, and you’ll get to enjoy a delicious dessert that takes no time at all to make!

Ingredients:

  • Almond flour
  • Egg whites
  • Confectioners sugar
  • Almond extract

Instructions:

Marzipan log

In a medium bowl, combine the almond flour, egg whites, confectioners sugar, and almond extract. Mix until well combined.

Begin to roll it into a log shape using your hands. If it’s too sticky, you can dust your hands with confectioners sugar. Wrap the log in plastic wrap and place it in the fridge for at least 1 hour.

Cut the marzipan log into 1-inch pieces and place on a serving dish, you can dust them with confectioners sugar if you’d like. Serve and enjoy!

Recipe tips and variations

  • If you want to flavor/color the marzipan, you can add a few drops of food coloring or other extracts like lemon or orange.
  • Try rolling the log in chopped nuts or shredded coconut before cutting into pieces.
  • For a chocolate version, roll the log in cocoa powder before cutting into pieces.
  • The marzipan log will keep in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
