Meal prep can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re feeding a family and trying to stay on budget. I used to think B&M was mainly for snacks and household bits, but this week I decided to properly test it. I did one food shop in B&M and tried to build real meals from it — the kind of meals that actually get eaten.
What I ended up with surprised me. From one shop, I prepped breakfast, lunch, dinner, and even dessert, without needing to pop into another supermarket.
Breakfast was a simple oat bake made with milk, butter, and honey. I used fruity oat sachets instead of plain oats, which worked really well and meant I didn’t need to add anything extra. It’s the sort of breakfast you can bake once, slice up, and reheat during the week — perfect for busy mornings.
For lunch, I made a creamy pasta bake. I mixed cooked pasta with white sauce, tuna, and garlic-and-herb soft cheese, then topped it with grated cheese and baked it until golden. It’s proper comfort food and ideal for batch cooking — one dish can easily cover a few lunches.
Dinner was a mild beef curry (This may surprise you, but yes — you can actually buy things like steak, cheese, butter, eggs, and other proper meal ingredients in B&M!) I used rump steak, puréed garlic and ginger, curry powder, coconut milk, and a stock cube, then served it with rice. Nothing fancy, just a simple, warming meal that works well for families and reheats beautifully.
Dessert was where it got fun. I poured Milky Bar mousses straight into the Ninja Creami, froze them, and spun them into ice cream. That was served with caramel biscuit box cake for an easy treat
This little experiment showed me that meal prep doesn’t have to be perfect or expensive. With a bit of flexibility, B&M can absolutely work for family meals — especially when you’re trying to make life a little easier.
