BBQ  Air Fryer Chickpeas

Ingredients

2 cups cooked chickpeas*

2 tablespoons your favorite BBQ Rub (or mix together equal parts brown sugar, paprika, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder and cumin)

1 tablespoon avocado oil

Salt to taste

*If using canned chickpeas, make sure to drain, rinse and dry them first.

Instructions

Preheat air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

In a small bowl combine olive oil with BBQ Rub until thoroughly mixed.

Add chickpeas to air fryer basket and drizzle the BBQ Rub mixture over top. Toss lightly so that all of the chickpeas are evenly coated in the spice mix.

Place basket in preheated air fryer and cook for 8 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit or until slightly crispy on outside and fully cooked through on inside (if needed add an additional minute or two).

Sprinkle on some extra salt as desired before serving (optional).

Substitutions

  • If you don’t have an air fryer it is possible to make this recipe in the oven instead – preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit before tossing Chickpeas with oil, spices, and salt in a baking sheet then bake for 20 minutes or until crispy on edges stirring halfway through baking time).
  • To replace the BBQ Rub a blend of equal parts smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder and ground cumin can be used as well as any other favorite spice blend from your pantry!
