Air Fryer Toast Cookies

Delicious and crunchy air fryer toast cookies are an easy and fun way to get your baking fix without getting out the baking ingredients. These cookies are made with just four simple ingredients.

They also require only a few minutes of preparation time before baking in the air fryer.

Whether you’re looking for a special treat for a party or just want something sweet to enjoy, these delicious cookies are sure to be a hit!

Ingredients

Air Fryer Toast Cookies

10 slices White bread

⅓ cup Melted milk chocolate

¼ cup Sprinkles

¼ cup Butter

Tools You’ll Need

  • A circular cookie cutter
  • A muddler or other tool for shaping and pressing the dough into the desired shapes

Instructions for Making Air Fryer Toast Cookies

Cutting out cookie shape from bread

Cut the white bread slices into circles using the cookie cutter. Make sure they are the same size so they will cook evenly.

Line up the circles of bread on a clean surface and use a muddler to gently press down to create an indentation. This is where the melted chocolate will go after baking.

Using a muddler to indent the cookies

Spread the butter over the circles of bread, then place in the air fryer basket and bake at 400°F for 3-4 minutes.

Cook the toast cookies for 3-4 minutes

After 3-4 minutes, remove the bread from the air fryer and quickly pour melted chocolate into the indentation on each cookie.

Pouring chocolate over the toast

Sprinkle sprinkles over each cookie and place on a serving plate.

Putting on the sprinkles

Allow 5 minutes for the chocolate to set.

Recipe Tips & Tricks

For an extra crispy texture, allow cookies to cool completely before eating them – this will also prevent any burnt fingers from hot melted chocolate!

To create different shapes, try using other cookie cutters such as stars or hearts. If you don’t have any cookie cutters handy, simply use your hands (or kitchen scissors) to form small disks from each slice of toast instead!

Substitutions & Variations

If you don’t have any white bread, you can use any other type of bread – whole wheat, multigrain, or even sourdough.

For a vegan-friendly treat, substitute the butter for melted coconut oil and use dairy-free chocolate chips instead of regular milk chocolate.

You can also add different toppings to your cookies such as nuts or dried fruit before baking them in the air fryer. Just be sure to adjust the cooking time depending on the size of your toppings!

FAQs

Can I make air fryer toast cookies without chocolate?

Yes – if you prefer not to use chocolate in this recipe, simply omit it altogether and season with salt or sugar instead before baking! This can also be done using other types of bread such as brioche or challah if desired too!

Is there any other way to shape my toast cookies?

Yes – if you don’t have access to cookie cutters at home then use your hands (or kitchen scissors) to form small disks from each slice of toast instead – add toppings such as crushed nuts or oats for extra flavor here too if you wish!

Can I use other toppings for my cookies?

Yes – you can use any type of topping for your air fryer toast cookies, such as crushed nuts or oats. Just be sure to adjust the cooking time depending on the size of your toppings!

Can these cookies be frozen after baking?

Yes – these air fryer toast cookies can easily be stored in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 3 months. To thaw, simply place them in the fridge overnight and enjoy!

Can the butter be substituted with another type of fat?

Yes, you can substitute the butter with other types of fats such as coconut oil or vegetable shortening. Just make sure to adjust the cooking time accordingly when using these alternative fats.

Is it necessary to use a cookie cutter for this recipe?

No – if you don’t have any cookie cutters at home then simply use your hands (or kitchen scissors) to form small disks from each slice of toast instead! Add toppings such as crushed nuts or oats for extra flavor here too if you wish!

How can I make sure the cookies cook evenly?

Make sure to cut all of the bread slices into circles that are the same size to ensure even cooking. You can also flip them halfway through baking for an extra crispy texture on each side!

How do I store the cookies?

As these air fryer toast cookies are best eaten right away, it is recommended to store them in an airtight container on the counter or in the fridge for up to 3 days. To freeze, transfer them into a freezer-safe bag or container and store for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight before enjoying!

How can I achieve the perfect indentation on each cookie?

To ensure the perfect indentation on each cookie, lightly press the back of a spoon (or muddler) onto each round before baking. This will create a slight depression in the centre which helps to keep all your toppings secure! Alternatively, you can use other kitchen utensils such as a fork or even your fingers – just make sure not to press too hard!

What other variations can I try?

You can add different toppings to your cookies such as nuts or dried fruit before baking them in the air fryer. Alternatively, you could also try adding melted peanut butter, sprinkles or even a drizzle of honey for extra sweetness! Just be sure to adjust the cooking time depending on the size of your toppings! Finally, if you’re feeling adventurous then why not experiment with different types of bread too – from brioche to sourdough, there are endless possibilities when it comes to making this delicious treat!

Is it necessary to preheat the air fryer before baking?

Yes, it is recommended to preheat the air fryer for about 5 minutes before adding the toast cookies. This will help ensure that they cook evenly and get a nice crispy texture all over.

How many cookies can I make at once?

This will depend on the size of your air fryer and how much space you have to work with. Generally, it is best to cook no more than 4-5 toast cookies at a time in order to ensure even cooking. If you need to make more then simply repeat the process until all of the slices are cooked!

What other recipes can I make with this same method?

This same method can also be used to create delicious bites such as mini quiches, mini pizzas, and even brownies! Get creative and have fun experimenting with different ingredients and toppings to add some extra flavor to your snacks. The possibilities are endless!

How can I make sure the cookies don’t burn?

To ensure that your toast cookies do not burn, keep a close eye on them while they are cooking. Depending on the size of your air fryer and the thickness of the bread slices, it is recommended to cook at a lower temperature (around 320-350˚F) and for a shorter amount of time (approximately 5-7 minutes). You can also check their progress by flipping them over halfway through baking. This will allow you to get an even golden brown colour all around!
