Recipe Tips & Substitution Ideas

  • You can replace the butter with olive oil if you want to make this recipe vegan.
  • You can add other herbs and spices such as oregano, rosemary or thyme for extra flavour.
  • If you don’t have an air fryer, cook in a preheated oven at 350F/180C for 20 minutes.
  • I had so many issues whilst recipe testing for this recipe! I just could not get the accordion shape because I sliced the potato too thin. It is important to cut the potato thick enough that you can create the accordion shape without it falling apart.

FAQS

What type of potato should I use?

We recommend using either Russet or sweet potatoes for best results; however, any type of starchy potato should work such as Yukon golds or red skinned varieties too!

Can I make these without an air fryer?

Yes absolutely – if you don’t have an air fryer try making baked accordions instead by placing sliced up potatoes onto a greased baking sheet and baking at 400°F until golden brown (approx 15 minutes).

How do I store leftovers?

Leftover cooked Air Fryer Accordions can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days – just reheat briefly before eating again!

What can I serve Air Fryer Accordion Potatoes with?

These potatoes are a great side dish for any main course – they pair particularly well with roasted meats and vegetables, as well as salads. They also make an excellent snack on their own or served with dip!

How do I keep them crispy?

To ensure your potatoes stay crisp, make sure to cook them in a single layer in the air fryer basket and avoid overcrowding them. You can also brush them again with butter or oil before serving if you want extra crunch!

Is this recipe suitable for people with dietary restrictions?

Yes, as long as you use appropriate ingredients that fit in with your diet! For example, if you are vegan, use olive oil instead of butter. If you have nut allergies, make sure to read the labels on all seasonings used to ensure they do not contain any nuts or nut derivatives. Additionally, always check the ingredient list when selecting a dip or sauce. Finally, be mindful of how many calories and fat grams are in each serving.

Can I double the recipe?

Absolutely! You can easily double or triple the amount of potatoes and ingredients used for this recipe. Just make sure to cook them in batches if your air fryer basket is too small to fit everything at once.

Are there other ways to cook these potatoes?

Yes – you can also make them in the oven. Preheat the oven to 375F/190C, spread out the accordion-shaped potato slices onto a greased baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. You may need to adjust the cooking time as needed depending on how thick you slice your potatoes.

Is there a way to reduce excess fat from this recipe?

If you’re looking for a healthier option, you can reduce the amount of butter or oil used in this recipe by half. You can also spray the accordion-shaped potatoes with cooking spray or brush them lightly with melted butter before placing them in the air fryer.

Are there any tips to make this recipe even tastier?

Yes! Try adding your favorite herbs or spices to the potatoes before air frying. You can also experiment with different dips and sauces for serving – a garlic aioli, honey mustard or spicy mayo would all be delicious options.

Are there any other creative ways to serve these potatoes?

Absolutely! Air Fryer Accordion Potatoes make an excellent base for inventive appetizers and snacks. Try topping them with shredded cheese, crispy bacon bits, diced onions, jalapenos or sautéed mushrooms for added flavor and texture. They also work great in mashed potato bowls, baked potato skins and more!

Accordion Potatoes are sure to become everyone’s new favorite way of enjoying this classic side dish thanks to its ease-of-making, versatility in terms of flavors added and presentation options available as well as its health benefits from not deep frying it in unhealthy oils like traditional versions often require us too.
