6 Lidl Foods That Replace Premium Brands and Save £30

I’ve always found it tricky to balance quality and price when shopping for everyday essentials. It’s easy to reach for premium brands without realising there are budget-friendly alternatives that don’t compromise on taste or quality.

In this article, I’ll share six Lidl foods that can replace popular premium brands while helping you save around £30. These swaps could make a noticeable difference to your weekly shop without feeling like a sacrifice.

Lidl Bellarom Italian Ground Coffee

I’ve found Lidl’s Bellarom Italian Ground Coffee to be a great everyday choice. It’s a dark roast with a smooth, balanced flavour that works well in filter machines and French presses.

At around £2.19 for 227g, it’s much cheaper than premium brands but still delivers good quality. If you enjoy a strong, drinkable coffee, this one hits the spot without stretching your budget.

You can see more about it here.

Lidl Nordpak Spreadable Slightly Salted Butter

I found Lidl’s Nordpak Spreadable Slightly Salted Butter to be a great alternative to pricier brands. It’s light and not overly salty, which I appreciated.

The texture is smooth and easy to spread straight from the fridge. It’s blended with rapeseed oil, making it a bit softer than regular butter.

At just over £2 for 500g, it offers good value compared to brands like Lurpak. You can find more details about its ingredients and pricing on Lidl’s site.

Lidl’s Chocolate Spread (better than Nutella)

I’ve tried Lidl’s chocolate spread, and I was surprised by how good it tastes compared to Nutella. It costs much less but still has a rich, creamy flavour that hits the spot.

The spread has a slightly higher fat content, but for the price difference, it feels like a great bargain. I keep a jar in my cupboard and use it regularly on toast and pancakes.

Lidl’s version is definitely worth trying if you want to save money without losing out on taste. You can read more about it in this detailed taste test against Nutella.

Lidl Olive Oil

I’ve found Lidl’s extra virgin olive oil to be a great budget-friendly option. It tastes fresh and works well for cooking, dressings, and dips.

What surprised me most was how it compares to pricier brands without feeling like a compromise. Lidl’s oil even won praise for its value, saving me around £7.50 compared to some well-known labels.

If you want good quality olive oil without spending too much, this is definitely one I keep coming back to (Nottinghamshire Live).

Lidl’s Award-winning Cheese Selection

I’ve found Lidl’s cheese range really impressive. Many of their cheeses have won awards for both taste and value.

It’s great knowing I can enjoy good-quality cheese without paying premium prices. Whether I need cheese for cooking or snacking, Lidl usually has a solid option.

Their selection includes cheddar and other popular types, often competing well against more expensive brands. You can see some of Lidl’s top cheeses in this Lidl cheese overview.

Lidl Peanut Butter

I’ve found Lidl’s Mister Choc Crunchy Peanut Butter to be a great alternative to pricier brands. It costs just 85p for 340g, which makes a real difference to my weekly shop.

The taste holds up well compared to big names like WholeEarth or Sun-Pat. It’s nice to get good quality without overspending.

Switching to this peanut butter could save you quite a bit, especially if you use it regularly. It feels good to shop smarter without sacrificing flavour.
